🌟 INTRODUCING THE #1WC DIFFERENCE MAKER AWARDS! 🌟

Every day, across Webster County Schools, employees are doing things that make a difference for their students, coworkers, and families. We revamped the 1WC Employees of the Month recognition to reflect the differences our staff make each day. From September through April, we will recognize one certified and one support staff Difference Maker.

Introducing our September #1WC Difference Makers, Camilla Herron - Dixon Elementary & Jamie Parkest - WCMS!

🌟 Camilla Herron is an instructional assistant at Dixon Elementary. She brings a positive attitude to students and staff, and her genuine care for others shines through in every interaction. Her nomination described Camilla perfectly: “She has been a friendly face each day to staff and students from breakfast till dismissal.”

🌟In just one year at WCMS (previously at Providence Elementary), Jamie Parkest has brought energy, creativity, and enthusiasm to her classroom while building meaningful relationships with students and transforming how many students feel about reading. Her nomination described Jamie perfectly: "She has demonstrated that being a Difference Maker means being willing to grow, take on new challenges, and continually put students first."

Our September Difference Makers show up each day ready to support kids, coworkers, and their school community. Congratulations!

Don't forget to complete the Household Income Form!

This form is not just about students receiving free meals. Each submitted form helps us advocate for our students. No matter your income status, each form matters!

All families need to complete this form, as it supports the district in many ways. Some of those are:

🍴Free meals for students

🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 FRYSC (Family Resource Youth Service Center) funding for staff, student programs, and supplies.

🛜 E-rate funding for high-speed internet

📚 Title 1 federal funding for extra academic help for our schools

📊 Data for grants that directly support our students

It only takes a few minutes, is confidential, and directly impacts our students! 🫶

‼️ Attention 6th, 8th, 10th, & 12th grade Parents

We use the KIP Survey results to better understand student needs, identify patterns in what students are experiencing, and strengthen support for students, families, and our community.

The Survey has helped our school district and community partners secure programs and millions of dollars in grant funding for school safety, substance use prevention, suicide prevention, and mental health programs and resources, such as:

COPS Grant for school safety, including new intercom system at Providence and door swipe badges districtwide
21st Century Afterschool Grants for WCMS and WCHS
Stronger Connections Grant to provide student and family support, including the Second Chance Express Bus Route, ParentSquare, student social-emotional learning and character development curriculum & resources for all schools, family engagement materials (magnet calendars, publications), attendance support and recognition (student awards, school banners and flags)
Drug-Free Communities student programming and support for character education, health, and wellness

As of today, our completion numbers are:

Clay 6th - 2/28 = 7%
Dixon 6th - 8/42 = 19%
Providence 6th - 3/32 = 9%
Sebree 6th - 0/42 = 0%
WCMS 8th - 9/146 = 6%
WCHS 10th - 12/183 = 7%
WCHS 12th - 7/137 = 5%

➡️ Completing the permission form takes just a minute, and the information students provide helps us make decisions that directly impact our students.

How to complete the form:

Because parent permission is required to take the survey, please complete the permission form attached to the original school group post. Look for 2026 KIP Survey in the title of the group post.
If you can't complete the permission form in ParentSquare, please email amy.hill@webster.kyschools.us or message with your child’s name, school location, and your decision about survey completion.

We are excited to collaborate with community partners to encourage participation!

🍦Every 6th, 8th, 10th, and 12th grade homeroom that achieves 90% participation or more will receive free ice cream during lunch.

🪎All survey participants will be entered into a giveaway, with prizes available at each school and for each grade level surveyed.
