WCHS Freshmen Complete Teen Mental Health First Aid Training

Webster County High School is proud to recognize our 9th-grade students for completing the Teen Mental Health First Aid Program through a collaborative effort between WCHS and River Valley Behavioral Health.
This important program is offered through our freshman Health/PE classes in collaboration with Mr. Darnes and a trained professional from River Valley Behavioral Health. Through interactive sessions, students learn how to recognize warning signs of mental health challenges, reduce stigma, and support their peers when they may be struggling.
Students are equipped with a five-step action plan to help friends who may be experiencing a mental health challenge or crisis and learn the importance of involving a responsible, trusted adult when needed.
Because teens often turn to their friends first when facing difficulties, these skills can make a meaningful difference. We are proud of our students for taking steps to build a more supportive, compassionate, and caring school community.
A special thank-you to River Valley Behavioral Health and Mr. Darnes for making this valuable learning opportunity possible!
